China Women’s University (CWU) held the 6th Young Teachers Basic Teaching Skills Contest on April 14.

A total of 15 contestants, who emerged as top competitors in the preliminary rounds held by different departments, participated in the contest finals.

Each had 20 minutes to hold a demo class and demonstrate his or her teaching skills, concepts and styles.

A panel of 17 judges assessed their performances in terms of teaching plans, presentations and general impression.

Professor Liu Meng, the Vice-President of CWU, attended the contest. Also present at the event were teacher representatives and Professor Fang Fuqian — from Renmin University of China — who was invited as the expert judge.

Fang spoke highly of the performances of the contestants and shared his ideas on what constitutes a well-taught university class.

Liu congratulated the winners of the contests and expressed her wish that all teachers could absorb the experts’ suggestions and improve their teaching.

The contest helped to create a sound teaching environment on campus and provided an opportunity for young teachers to stand out. It also encouraged all teachers to work hard and devote themselves to women’s higher education.

The contest was organized by the Trade Union, the Office of the Teaching Affairs, the Personnel Department, the Department of Publicity and the Modern Education Technology Center and was hosted by the director of the Office of the Teaching Affairs, Hong Yimin.
