CWU Invited to ACWF Seminar to MarkV-Day



The All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF) held a seminar to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World’s Anti-Fascism War, in Beijing on September 7.

Shen Yueyue, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and president of the ACWF and MengXiaosi, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, attended the event. The faculty and students of the China Women’s University (CWU) were invited to participate and make speeches at the seminar.

At the conference, war veteran Li Min, descendant Yu Aimei, researcher Jiang Jiannong, along with other scholars, recalled the role of women during the war and praised their important contributions. As a youth representative, CWU student leader Shan Mingjun made a speech. She stated her personal understanding of the wartime, and discussed the practical experiences that young students could use to build the “Chinese dream”. Her concise and inspirational speech received a big round of applause.

After the conference, CWU faculty members and students visited the exhibition “Women in the Flames of War” at the Chinese Museum of Women and Children, also held to mark the 70th anniversary of V-day. Students were shocked attherare photos and cultural relics on display, and said that they will make an in-depth study of the spirit expressed by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the V-day celebrations; play their key roles to realize the motherland's prosperous and great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; and, set a new chapter to cherish and defend peace.
