Invitation to the 3rd Global Conference on Women’s Development

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are pleased to announce that the 3rd Global Conference on Women’s Development will take place from October 23-24, 2021 at Jiande City, Zhenjiang Province, China. We sincerely invite you to join this conference.

2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). In recent 100 years, with women’s cause as an important part of its undertaking, the CPC has been struggling for women’s liberation and gender equality. For the CPC, women’s cause always plays a significant role. Especially since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, women now can find the best way to fulfill themselves while gaining increasing senses of achievement, happiness, and safety, as witnessed by the great accomplishments they’ve made so far.

At present, China has accomplished the “First Centenary Goal” of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and would build on this achievement to embark on a new journey toward the “Second Centenary Goal” of building a modern socialist country in all respects, thus signifying China’s entry into a new stage of development. At a new historical starting point, women’s all-round development has not only ushered in new opportunities, but also faced new challenges.

In order to better promote the development of women in the new era, we will sort out the glorious course of Chinese women’s movement, further inherit and carry forward the experience of Chinese women’s liberation, and constantly promote the innovative practice of women’s development, China Women’s University will host the 3rd Global Conference on Women’s Development with the theme of “Inheritance, Promotion and Innovation: Women’s Liberation and Development under the Leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC)” in Jiande City, Zhejiang Province on October 23-24, 2021. Experts and scholars in relevant fields are sincerely invited to attend the conference.

I. Topic Selection of Parallel Forum

Ø Parallel Forum I: Women’s Participation in Grassroots Social Governance

The 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 points out that during “the 14th five year”, China will “improve the community-level governance system in urban and rural areas which combines self-governance, rule of law, and rule of virtue” and “build a community of social governance which everyone performs their duties and shares in the benefits.” As an important role in social governance, women have been playing a unique role. Women are creators of material and spiritual wealth, and represent an important force driving social development and progress. From the perspective of family construction, women are the organizers of family life, the builders of family civilization and the maintainers of family relations, and they have crucial influence on family members. Focusing on building a new pattern of social governance at the grassroots level, the forum will explore the effective path and innovative mechanism for women to participate in social governance.

Ø Parallel Forum II: Digital Society and Women’s Development

The 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 proposed “to adapt to the new trend that the digital technology is fully integrated into social communication and daily life, innovate the way public services and social operations work, and build a digital life for all” will be the key work of digital society construction in China in the next several years. The acceleration of the digital society will bring more choices and opportunities to women. However, women still face many challenges in the use, production and policy development of digital information and communication technologies. This forum will focus on women’s digital survival, digital development, digital empowerment and other aspects of in-depth discussion, in order to seek the development of women in the digital society.

Ø Parallel Forum III: Women’s Entrepreneurship and Sharing Reform Achievements

With the continuous attention and support of the Communist Party of China and the government to female entrepreneurship, a number of innovative and outstanding entrepreneurial female groups have emerged in more and more industries. They not only drive economic development, but also effectively drive more women to the road of common prosperity. However, while embracing good development opportunities, female entrepreneurship is also faced with many challenges in society, family, culture and individual levels. The forum will focus on how to actively promote female entrepreneurship, promote the development of female human resources, opportunities and challenges faced by female entrepreneurship and other topics.

III. Instructions to participants

1.There is no registration fee.

2.The conference organizers will cover meals for all conference participants with accepted papers during the conference. Conference participants shall pay for their own accommodations and transportation.

3.Conference arrangement: keynote speech; round table talks; parallel forum; visit the “Women Hold up Half the Sky” Museum; talk to the great local women; field visits to local beautiful rural construction sites.

2. The proposal should include the title, abstract (500-800 words).

3. Please mark “Name + Paper Title” in the subject of the email.
