School of international education held the series academic lectures---- ongoing Gender mainstreaming

The academic lecture themed “on going Gender mainstreaming” was held by school of international education on October 26, 2017. The lecture was given by Guo Ruixiang, a researcher of UN Women China office. Those who attended the lecture including Wang Qing, a staff of UN Women China office, Yang Baozheng, a project officer from development department of Canadian International Development Agency, and students of 2017 Mofcom Foreign Aid Degree Program from China Women’s University. The lecture introduced an overview of gender mainstreaming and the specific effort and contribution that China made.

Firstly, Guo Ruixiang introduced definitions of gender, gender equality and gender mainstreaming. This could help the students explore the topic of gender mainstreaming based on knowledge of the basic concepts. And then, she described the situation of gender gap in China and worldwide, and also discussed some examples of how to narrow down the gap. Finally, she talked about China practices and contributions using examples of her own experiences.

The students actively participated in discussions of various questions. They express their own opinions and exchanged ideas with Guo Ruixiang in order to get further explanation of many detail question from her. After the lecture , the students expressed their thankfulness and their willingness to attend more similar lectures so as to learn more experience sharing from the experts and practitioners from various fields.
